New York City: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1937. 1st Edition. Hardcover. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Very Good/Near Fine / Very Good/Near Fine. Item #002707
Introduction by Ernest Hemingway for this short-story collection about immigrants making a life for themselves in small-town America. Sharp First Edition, First Printing with Scribner's "A" on the copyright page. Original yellow cloth is square, tight and very clean throughout. Soiling however to the boards and the spine is slightly faded. Off-setting to paste-downs and the previous owner's name and address stamped on both paste-downs. Equally attractive unclipped red & black pictorial wrapper has some mild wear to the spine ends and tips and some wear along the edges but fairly minor. A very fresh, bright example and uncommon as such. Protected with an archival mylar cover. An excellent collectable copy of the author's first book.
