New York: E.P. Dutton & Company, 1930. 1st Edition. Cloth. Very Good / Near Fine. Item #009213
8vo., 359pp. Sharp First Edition of this mystery located in New York City. Bound in publisher's original black cloth with titles stamped in red on spine and front board. Square, tight and clean throughout with a touch of wear to edges and tips. Some spotting to cloth on the front board and spine. Dedication page and contents page have bottom corners torn off. Light off-setting to endpapers. Very attractive Art-Deco city scene on the unclipped dust-jacket, ($2.00), which also has a very Edward Gorey-ish floating corpse in the river in the foreground. Some rubbing to hinges and wear to spine ends and tips with a couple of tiny closed edge-tears. Still fresh and bright and impossible to find in any condition. A gorgeous collectable copy of a quite scarce title with or without the jacket. (Hubin, p.273).
