Thick 8vo. 473pp. plus 3pp. ads in the rear of each volume. Sharp First Edition bound in original brown pebbled cloth with embossed borders and titles in gilt on spine. Tissue guarded frontis of Robert E. Lee and similar portraits of the other 17 southern generals profiled. Square and tight with scattered but light foxing throughout and mainly to the prelims and portrait borders. Wear to spine ends with a couple of tiny closed tears with a small loss of cloth to the heel. Tips worn but the cloth is still well-preserved. Contemporary bookplate of Henry V. Escott. A handsome collectable copy of a fairly uncommon title, particularly in nice condition.
