New York CIty: The John Day Company, 1931. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine / Good. Item #010602

8vo., 182pp. Sharp First Edition of this guide to nocturnal adventures in the Big Apple, published during prohibition, and probably a not so daringly chapter on Speakeasies. Original black cloth with titles in red on front board and spine with an Art Deco vignette black, blue and white. In-text sketches by Raymond Bret-Koch. Square, tight and clean throughout with no toning or foxing. Some rubbing and wear to the rear panel, with a tiny loss of cloth at the bottom rear tip and a tinier nick at the top rear edge. Still quite bright and well-preserved. Very attractive, and quite uncommon, unclipped dust-jacket, ($2.50), has some nicks at the extremities and two large pieces from the rear panel, (corresponding to where the wear on the rear board is). Spine panel toned. Still a fresh, clean, Art-Deco front panel color illustration of a man about town. A very handsome collectable copy at a great price.

Price: $1,350.00
