The Street of Seven Stars: A Story of Vienna (Signed First Edition)

Boston and New York: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1914. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/Fine / Good/Very Good. Item #010499

8vo., 377pp. Beautiful First Edition, Bound in green cloth with titles stamped in silver on front board and spine. Square, tight and clean throughout with a bit of mild wear to spine ends and edges. Solid. unclipped, and quite uncommon, dust-jacket, ($1.25 on spine panel), has some chipping to spine ends and tips. A closed tear along on the front hinge reinforced by tape on the verso though invisible from the front. Some light rubbing and toning to spine and edges. Still bright and complete. Inscribed, signed and dated in the year pf publication on the front end-paper, "To Mr. Lyman Pierce, With the best wishes and congratulations on the work he is doing in Pittsburgh, PA, of the Pittsburgh, PA author of this book. Mary Roberts Rinehart. Nov. 24th, 1914". A quick search on Lyman Pierce brought no result though it likely he was simply a local businessman. A sharp, collectable, and scarce signed copy of this non-mystery story set in Vienna before the first World War. Any title signed by Roberts is quite difficult to find.

Price: $500.00
