Title in gilt upon red leather spine label and author and volume # in gilt upon black leather label. Boards with double gilt-ruled borders around inner border with chain motif stamped in blind. Gilt board fore-edges. Marbled page edges. Marbled end-papers. Illustrated with portraits of the author, and several others including a fol-out facsimile of the manuscript dedication of "The Revolt of Islam". Both volumes are square, tight and remarkably clean throughout with no foxing and just a hint of page edge toning. Fairly mild rubbing to hinges, edges and tips. Very well-preserved and feels unread. A simply gorgeous collectable set.
