New York: George H. Doran Company, 1927. First U.S. Edition. Hardcover. Very Good / Very Good. Item #011634
8vo., 317pp. Solid First American Edition with publisher's logo on copyright page as called for. Published originally the prior year in England by Hodder & Stoughton. Bound in grey cloth with titles in red on front board and spine. Square, tight and clean throughout with some gentle bumping to spine ends and minimal edge-wear. Some areas of discoloration on both boards some almost feel like some residue from another jacket that adhered to the cloth and then removed. Some off-setting to end-papers. Beautiful and quite scarce, unclipped dust-jacket, ($2.00 on spine panel), has some fairly wear to edges and tips and a small color-flake on the front panel. Some staining along the top edge. Very mild toning to spine. Off-setting to end-papers. Still quite fresh and bright with no chipping, tears or creases. Note a perfect copy but impossible to find in any condition, particularly in dust-jacket. Most copiers found are the Grosset reprint. (Hubin, p.205).
