Fairly minor wear to spine ends and tips, more so on the bottom edge. Contemporary ownership signature on front end-paper. Attractive clipped dust-jacket has some fairly mild wear to spine ends and edges. Small scrape to the front panel. Light soiling. Still solid with no chipping or tears. Basis for the 1946 Noir film starring George Raft and Ava Gardner. Inscribed and signed on the front end-paper, "Property of Baseball's Mrs. Ted Williams, October 2006. Out of print book. Bellows falls, VT". This would almost certainly have been the Splendid Splinter's third wife, Dolores Wettach, who shared a home in Vermont and was still alive in 2006. A pretty collectable copy of an unusual item.
