Typically found in red cloth, this copy bound in the publisher's scarcer brown cloth with titles and decoration stamped in gilt on spine and in relief upon gilt decorated background on the front board. Blind-stamped border and fleur-de-lis repeating pattern on front board. Beveled Board edges. Top edge gilt. Illustrated with 120 engravings including tissue guarded frontis portrait of the author. Square, tight and clean throughout with remarkably no toning or foxing. Very light wear to spine ends and tips but quite well-preserved. Solid joints and fresh bright gilt. A gorgeous collectable production and quite uncommon as such.
