Two Volume, 8vo., xii(1)385; xii(1)401pp. Beautiful First Edition. Bound in publisher's maroon with blind-stamped borders and decoration on both boards. Titles in gilt on spine with gilt decorations. Title and figure of Wellington on horseback stamped in gilt on front boards. Illustrated with engravings throughout. Square and tight with little toning but light, scattered foxing throughout. Wear to spine ends with a few tiny tears and a bit of loss to the crown of volume 1. Light wear and bumping to tips. Spines toned. though gilt still bright. Contemporary gift inscription, (dated 1855), on the front end-paper of each volume. Bookseller ticket on the rear paste-down of volume 1. A handsome collectable set and though not an uncommon title, finding examples in original cloth, in nice condition, are much harder to find.
