12mo., iv(3)215pp. plus 16 page publisher's catalogue in the rear dated November, 1858. Solid Third (or fourth?) printing, (BAL 12122), of this classic in American poetry. Bound in publisher's original brown cloth with titles stamped in gilt, on spine. Borders and decorations blind-stamped on both boards. Brown end-papers. Square, tight and generally clean with little or no toning to pages. A few spots of scattered foxing but very little. There is though a water stain that only affect the front and rear end-papers. Just those two only which makes me think this may have been done prior to the binding process. Some wear to edges and spine ends with a bit of fraying to cloth on the extremities. Boards moderately soiled. Spine gilt still bright. Not perfect but certainly a pleasing collectable copy. A very pretty collectable copy.
