Flight Into Space (From the Personal Library of Dust-jacket Artist H. Lawrence Hoffman)
New York: Random House, 1953. H. Lawrence Hoffman. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine / Very Good. Item #017933
8vo., 307pp. Sharp Stated First Printing of this examination of the then fledgling US Space Program as told by Time Magazine's Science Editor. Bound in black cloth with titles in silver on spine. Square, tight and clean throughout with little or no wear. "e" on the word space on the spine is smudged out. Very attractive unclipped dust-jacket, ($3.50), has some short splits along folds and mild edge-wear. Still fresh and bright with no chipping or creases. Though not marked in any way, this came directly from the library of H. Lawrence Hoffman who illustrated the dust-jacket. His son, David Hoffman, the noted documentary filmmaker, has signed a statement with information about his father, the artist, and attesting that the book was from his library. A copy of this is included. A very pretty collectable copy of a surprisingly uncommon title, especially in decent condition.
