8vo., 313pp. Sharp First Edition of this classic Bibliomystery. Bound in red cloth with lettering and decoration in black on front board and spine. Square and tight with just a touch of softness and rubbing to spine ends and tips but quite minor. Rear hinge starting but firm. A bit of glue residue in the gutter of the verso of the front end-paper almost certainly from the binding process. Beautiful unclipped dust jacket, ($2.50), has an almost invisible 1mm closed edge-tear but is fresh and bright with no creases, chipping, or toning that is so common on the spine of this jacket. Remarkably well-preserved and quite uncommon as such. Basis for the1938 MGM film starring Melvyn Douglas, Florence Rice, and Claire Dodd with Page co-writing the screenplay. A gorgeous collectable copy of a high-spot of the genre.
