8vo., 315pp. Beautiful Stated First Edition of the 8th title in the Barsoom (Martian) series and the first in the series to be published by the Edgar Rice Burroughs imprint. Bound in pebbled blue cloth with titles stamped in red on front board and spine. Red top-stain. Cover design and five interior b&w illustrations, including frontispiece, by J. Allen St. John. Square, tight and clean throughout with very mild page toning. Spine moderately toned. Barely a hint of wear. Very well preserved. Very attractive wrap-around clipped dust-jacket has had significant but quite professional restoration to with some closed tear repairs and color touch ups. It also appears that the flap s were trimmed for some reason. Likely not from having previously be glued to the paste-downs as there is no residue or any markings to indicate this. Spine lightly toned. Very mild edge-wear and quite faint surface creases. Fresh and bright with no chipping. This is the first-state, laminated version of the dust-jacket.
