Beautifully bound, with signed binding, by Mayday & Co. in full red calf, gilt ruled, with five raised bands bordered and decorated in gilt with title in gilt upon green leather label in compartment #2 and author/Vol. # upon a maroon leather label in compartment #3.All edges marbled. Marbled end-papers. Hundreds of illustrations after original designs by William Harvey. Square, tight and clean throughout with bit of toning and foxing to end-papers but largely unblemished interior pages. Very mild rubbing to edges and board surfaces and fairly moderate soiling. Very well-preserved. A gorgeous collectable set and surprisingly an uncommon one, particularly in such a pretty binding and in such nice condition.
