The Masked Man
New York: The Macaulay Company, 1929. First U.S. Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine / Near Fine. Item #018622
8vo., 374pp. Beautiful First American Edition of this quite uncommon thrilling mystery/adventure story from the author of "The Phantom of the Opera". Translated from the French by Hannaford Bennett. Bound in light blue cloth with lettering in navy on spine and front board. Square, tight and clean throughout save a small, neat designation number on the front paste-down. Very unobtrusive. No toning or foxing. Little or no wear. Perhaps a touch of softness to heel but remarkably well preserved. Gorgeous unclipped Art Deco dust-jacket, ($2.00), has some rubbing edges and extremities. A couple of small color flakes. Lightly soiled and a faint check mark on the spine. Still fresh and bright with no chipping, creases or tears and impossible to find in any condition. A very pretty collectable copy of a very scarce item. (Hubin, p.246).
