12mo., 252pp. Sharp "Copyright" Edition and First Edition with this title of this mystery from the author of the celebrated "The Lodger". Originally published in 1912 by Methuen in the UK and Scribner in the USA with the title "The Chink in the Armour". Bound in green cloth with titles in gilt and decorative borders also in gilt on front board and spine. The Readers Library was an imprint of Gerald Duckworth and Company, reprinting classics from between 1910 and 1927, re-launching as the New Readers Library in 1927 and publishing through 1946. Though notoriously flimsily made, this copy is square, tight and clean throughout with moderately toned pages. Wear to spine ends and tips. Light toned are of the bottom of the front board. Spine titles dulling. Equally attractive unclipped, though unpriced, dust-jacket has a barely noticeable nick or two ad some edge-wear. Moderate soiling. Still fresh and bright and tough to find in any condition. A very pretty collectable copy of a scarce title and at a great price. (Hubin, p.256).
