The Hiding Place
Cleveland and New York: The World Publishing Company, 1959. First U.S. Edition. Hardcover. Very Good / Very Good. Item #019224
8vo., 254pp. Solid Stated FIrst Edition of the noted actor's first book; written while acting but long before he reached stardom. Square and tight with mild softness to spine ends and a touch of toning to board edges. The issue is inside where there is significant off-setting and staining to front end-paper and paste-down. Staining to the fore-edges of the first several pages though not affecting text. (See photos). Gift inscription on half-title page. Attractive unclipped dust-jacket, ($3.50), has toning to edges, spine and folds. Staining to front flap. Still complete with no chipping, creases or tears. Not perfect but still a collectable copy and quite uncommon, much scarcer than the British Edition, and at a great price.
